A Character You Love to Hate

Ravana by Roadside

My prompt of the week is create a character that my readers would love to hate.

How interesting

left to me I would paint the picture of person who is very meticulous and immaculate, perfection. Imagine the kid in your class who does his homework, who attends class when the rest of decide to bunk. The kid would definitely make it to the hate list.

Now the beautiful girl down the street, who never seems to have a bad hair day, so much so her hair care regime has been patented and Shashi Tharoor is her franchisee. No pimples, all colors look gorgeous. Etc. etc.

Who else, the Jughead of the campus who can eat anything, he basically is synonymous with garbage eating, yet does not put on weight, another pet hate.

But hold on a minute are we talking of hate or are we talking of envy. I hate the person because my defects come forth, that is reactionary.

Ideally the love-to-hate should be someone who is threat to the social structure, someone who creates havoc, negativity, or personification of evil, then we come to what is evil?

What could evoke a passionate dislike?

Say I was to personify communal violence as a character, but he gets qualified who creates him?

Who nurtures him? Eventually what brings his downfall.

Hmmm—not a bad format to start off with.

Can you put down what is your pet hate and why?
