The sanskrit word for flavor is Rasa. It is the hidden factor in every experience. It is that factor that converts the mundane experience to an divine catharsis. There are eight rasas or flavors that can occur, the ninth being the shanta rasa is the contribution of the Buddhist scholar nagarajuna, Every thing begins and ends with Shanta rasa.
