Thalipeet is a northern Karnataka, Maharashtra breakfast dish.
This works somewhere along the lines of sandwiches, and chaats where the cook can go berserk with imagination.
Ingredients:
½ kg. Raagi flour(millet)
2 onions
4-5 green chillies finely chopped.
1-2 tbsp coconut scraping.
1 fist full of bay leaves
½ bunch coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Raagi is mixed with water and salt to create a think batter. To this the other ingredients are added.
Heat a skillet, oil it with a tsp. On oil.
Pour a ladle of the batter spread thin and cover.
Uncover in 1=2mnts, flip over and roast.
The next roti does not need oiling drop the batter, then lace it with oil/ghee whatever.
Serve as breakfast, or evening snack with chutney, pickle ,curd.
If the dough is made slightly stiff, then the rotis come out a bit harder, this can be served as accompaniment…
