30^th march a Bangladeshi Blogger, Washiqur Rahman was hacked to death. He wrote under the pseudonym Washiqur Babu and Kutshit Hasher Chhana that translates to ugly ducklying. He was considered a progressive thinker. He has been contributing to the blog site www.somewhereinblog.net.

Being the voice of the unheard is quite an onus.

As  a species we no more stand in the middle, in every a every aspect of our life we have deliberately or by conditioning  of birth, education, environment allowed ourselves to stand on one bank of life with some intolerance of those who were foolish enough to choose or be lead to stand on the other. Thus we are male or female, old or young, or east or west. by temperament we are introvert or extrovert, leaders of followers, all for action or striving rather to be. It surely follows that we should be more tolerant of the other fellow, equally right/wrong and less swift to judge him with our ignorant, lop-sided view and definite disapproval. In any event, do we have to express an opinion, presume to judge? I do not know. But I do  know if  the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be lead, like sheep to the slaughter.

Once any power centre is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of the other, it has only one way to go and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measure, until it becomes a source of terro to all concerned. It creates a country where everyone lives in fear. The best way to oppress a community, is to subdue the freeness of speech.
