When 2023 set in
There was this seminar by Landmark Forum, one of the things they asked us to do was to put in tasks that we intended to do. We were not told to put a time line to it…
I was very radar less those days, and was also going through a wonderful sea of self-pity that no amount of chocolate or samosa could cure. I bought my self-planners like I do every year and gave it away, because I realized they were the 2022 ones which is why I got it on discount this was from of those fancy brands. All the same I kept the stickers and I still have them.
I did do a list of things that I wanted to achieve, movies to see, books to read, courses to upgrade myself everyday things to do. Well, some I did and some I didn’t. the biggest take away I was don’t feel as much as a looser as I have been feeling at the year end for the past 50yrs of my life. Neither do I have resolutions to make.
Tick Tock day is the boogie reminder to tell us we have only 2 days left to complete our task. Well one of my things was declutter the house, and move out well that is still undone and I know from a practical note that it is next to impossible to achieve this in the next 2 days.
But on a practical note…
Look at any fancy planner they give you page for your emotional wellbeing wellness, wealth, professional goals etc. etc. just filling it up is quite stress full.
My target was 52 books in a year, at one book a week absolutely do able but I am frozen at 27, reading 25 books in next 2 days is mission impossible.
Again, to write 52 posts one a week, I have not done that either but I have written a text book of 45000 words.
Take my mom to visit Kanyakumari not done not possible either since the time slotted for Kanyakumari she went to states.
The very fact that I did only 1 out my 5 goals is depressing. I realize goal setting and following it up is a stress. To understand that I created the plan and I am playing part is so much easier.
Why create a plan at all…
- Gives you something to strive for.
- Allows you to track your progress
- Helps you stay accountable
- Keeps you motivated
- Halts procrastination.
- Helps you figure exactly what you want.
What actually worked for me, was planner by Chaarpai which is meant for 3months. When I had 4 projects planned for my year they were totally focused. Still, I found myself floundering. That was when I came across DemiandCarey’s on lifehacks, I learnt how to use the weekly planner of chaarpai through it. to me Chaarpai’sher brilliant idea from works perfect as it allows me to focus on a project at a time. It also gives me a weekly plan, and a two page per day this always to me priortize and take notes.
Though I have not been much of a human doing following the goals and benchmark I gave myself. I did things that have made me reclaim life. One commitment I did keep was imbibing the ‘Wabi-Sabi’. That is accepting life is incomplete, impermanent and imperfect.
