Happy Birthday Wikipedia.

Refer to books, put in those hours, knowledge comes at a price… that’s what we are told. well like everything else in the world that seemed to alter too…think again all knowledge is available on Wikipedia and it for Free. one might claim that its knowledge is not available but information is well that is true too. somehow Wikipedia seem to authenticate things.

Stephen Colbert actually says “Wikipedia is the first place I go to when I’m looking for knowledge…or when I want to create some.” quite few of us are like that aren’t we.

Again, Christian Rudder is right when he says, “I’m not going to pretend that a few minutes with Wikipedia can stand in for an understanding of culture.” Yet it is a good place to begin one’s journey.

Wikipedia is actually a revolutionary resource. It has transformed the way people access and share information. Wikipedia is a living breathing resource that is always expanding and improving. Jan 15th is the day this amazing resource was established and first edited.

January 15th 2001 was not only the day Wikipedia was established and first edited; it was also the day Creative Commons registered their website. This is the day Wikipedia celebrates its birthday around the world. Fans of Wikipedia are part of it. Wikipedia editors are part of the activity, sharing what they did in the year that went by. People proposing to share information in Wikipedia are part of it too. Wikipedia also has training for newcomers and of course the mandatory socializing is part of it.

The Public Domain day is also celebrated this day. the Public Domain Day celebrates the media entering the public domain dure to expirations at the end of the previous year.

Go ahead have a blast and share what you did.

Anyone can host an event, just have a birthday cake it requires no permission, maybe a talk. Maybe interact with editors.
