Day 5 Unfettered Life.
Hey there! So, picture this – life’s like this two-edged sword, right? Seneca nailed it when he said, “A man who anticipated the coming of troubles takes away their power when they arrive.” It’s a bit like having a plan B – on one side, you’re prepared, and on the other, it kinda feels like you’re already setting yourself up for failure, you know?
I used to carry all these burdens, doing stuff that was basically just busy work, while the real important things were left undone. And let me tell you, the guilt-anger-blame cycle? Fireworks. Not fun.
Since I’m all about being unfettered, I had to take a hard look at what was holding me back. Time is precious, and for me, the game-changer was structure and commitment. Landmark folks call it “being in integrity.”
One big move for me was figuring out where my time was going. We’re talking about taking courses we never finish – it’s like selling a product you don’t have. And people piling on for coffee breaks or chats? That’s like someone grabbing your product without permission. Plus, undercharging and doing irrelevant things? It’s like leaving money on the table.
So, I had this lightbulb moment. I strapped on a watch, faced my calendar, and started KonMari-ing my to-do list. Basically, I asked myself three questions for each task: Does this unfetter me? Does it help me help people find their zone of abundance? Does it give me joy? If the answer wasn’t a solid yes, it went straight to the “out” zone.
Now, let’s talk about potential potholes – like the caregiver playing hooky. Used to stress me out, but having a contingency plan? Game-changer. I rejigged my appointments so I can work from home a few days a week just in case.
Looking at priorities and working backward became my thing. Delivery date, prep time, and then building my schedule around it. And hey, outsourcing became my best friend. If I got some spill time, I kicked back, made a couple of calls to my crayon buddies, and just enjoyed the moment. Life’s too short for unnecessary stress, right?
