Mastering Intentional Mayhem
Ah, the sweet thrill of being shortlisted as a speaker for a women’s networking group! I can already see the headlines: “Local Woman Mumbles Incoherently on Stage, Audience Politely Applauds.” Meanwhile, I’ve got a video sales landing page ready for my course launch—starring yours truly as the face that cracked the mirror. Eat your heart out, Agatha Christie!
And as if the universe wasn’t having enough fun, there’s an event looming this weekend, for which I am as prepared as a cat at a dog show. A whole month of action plans, and I’m just now realizing that I’ve actioned nothing. Oh, and let’s not forget the two assignments due soon. If you’re looking for a how-to guide on cluelessness, I’m your gal.
But hey, at least my patient interactions are smooth sailing. And pounding on my laptop—my modern-day typewriter—feels almost therapeutic, as I bleed my anguish onto the screen. This would be the perfect time to practice what I preach: three deep breaths and a strategic retreat.
But what’s that I hear? The ghost of my 8th-grade teacher whispering, “Jack of all trades, master of none”? Snip! Another cord cut. Then there’s my inner critic, reborn as my daughter, with the wise words of an 11-year-old: “Amma, who defines your success?” Well, if I knew that, I wouldn’t be spending my days in existential dread, now would I?
This calls for some deep, philosophical digging, like Pop Glossop always advised in those psychiatry classes I somehow stayed awake for. “Ladies and gentlemen, what is success?” Thirty years later, I think I’ve cracked it—four magic ingredients:
- Intention: Why on earth am I doing this?
- Thoughts: Align those brainwaves with the intention.
- Words: I just have to pick the words that convey my intention and strengthen my thought.
- Action: Where the magic (or chaos) happens.
Let’s apply this to the most mundane situation—like taking a job or starting a business. What was my original motive? If my action is drenched in fear or panic, it’s my soul sending a telegram that I’m about to royally mess up.
And yes, during the dark days, I’ve turned to astrologers, who’ve told me that I’m cursed with a “stree dosha.” Apparently, I should appease some goddess, or Lakshmi will withhold her riches. Karma, however, always finds its balance. Had I listened to Indira teacher and focused on just one thing, the rest of my life might have gone down the drain.
After 15 years of hypnotherapy, I’ve realized that life’s recurring patterns are just unlearned lessons or unresolved emotional turbulence. Success, my dear, is knowing I’m whole and complete, even though I’m not the entire pie.
So, after all this pondering, what’s my game plan?
- Intention: To be guilt-free and at peace.
- Thoughts: I’ve bitten off more than I can chew, so let’s TACO it—Terminate, Automate, Consolidate, and Outsource. Focus on what can be salvaged, and let the rest go down the drain.
- Words: Still working on that one.
- Action: Time-box it, baby!
And voilà! After venting, cribbing, and a solid cup of coffee, peace is restored in Mango Meadows. Pop Glossop, you can rest in peace now.
Hope this helps bring a smile to your face and maybe even some clarity to your busy schedule!
