A February Writing Adventure

Of Muses, Mayhem, and the Elusive Theme

Ah, February! The shortest month of the year, but long enough to launch me into yet another attempt at Blogchatter’s “Write a Page a Day” challenge. A noble endeavor, really—thirty days of disciplined, structured writing. Naturally, this means I shall spend the first week being utterly overwhelmed, the second week questioning my life choices, and the last two weeks flitting between grand ideas like a particularly indecisive butterfly.

Last year, I set forth with a theme in mind—”Unfettered,” an ambitious exploration of mental health. A fine theme, a respectable theme! Did I stick to it? Not in the least. Somewhere between musings on mindfulness and the occasional deep dive into literary whimsy, I found myself lost in a delightful tangle of distractions. Mango Meadows emerged, bringing with it a delightful cast of characters, including the ever-wise Siddaramiah Bellad and his meticulous wife Sara, Chitra and Chats, and, of course, my ever-growing planner graveyard.

And this year? Ah, this year, the universe has upped the ante—Aunt Selvi has moved in. Now, for the uninitiated, Aunt Selvi is a force of nature. She arrived with the quiet determination of a woman who has seen it all and yet remains utterly unimpressed. If my previous attempts at theme consistency were a struggle, this year, I shall be navigating my writing journey under the watchful gaze of a woman who can spot inconsistency from a mile away and comment on it with devastating accuracy.

But wait—there’s more! 2025, in all its mystical glory, brings an energy of transformation, heightened consciousness, unity, and resilience. February itself carries the weight of introspection and fresh beginnings. It’s a month of alignment, of depth, of meaning.

So, naturally, my grand plan is to stick to a single theme this time. Yes, you heard me! This year, I shall write with focus and consistency, embracing the wisdom of the spiritual energies at play. I shall resist the siren call of distraction, the lure of side quests, and the inevitable temptation to write about everything except what I originally intended.

Will I succeed? Will I stay true to my theme, or will my posts take on the chaotic energy of a toddler let loose in a bookstore? Only time will tell. But for now, onward, my friends! To February, to writing, and to the valiant attempt at consistency!
