Today is Winnie-the –pooh’s day. Most kids must have owned at least one of these bears with a red Tee shirt.
Well Winnie- the Pooh or Pooh Bear, is a character created by A.A.Milne and stories woven around Winnie-the Pooh and his friends. There were some poems too. The first collection of these stories was published in 1926.
The book features Christopher Robin, and hi s enchanted neighborhood. Christopher Robin was Milne’s on. Winnie the pooh has seven friends. Tigger the tiger, Roo and Kanga the kangaroo mother and kid, Eeyore the donkey, Rabbit, Piglet and Christopher Robin.
A bear called Winnipeg at the London Zoo and a swan called Pooh (also featured in the book) and Christopher’s fascination with his Edward Bear inspired the series. Winnie-the-pooh made his debut on Dec, 24.1925 as story for children. The original stuffed bear belonging to Christopher can be found in New York City’s Donnell library.
1926 the first Winnie the pooh book called Bear of Very Little Brain Becomes Shrewd Business man was published.
By 1931, Pooh was grossing over $50million., including stuffed animals, records, board games, puzzles, and radio shows.
1961 Disney purchased rights to Pooh, releasing films, television shows, life size characters and the works.
1966 Disney animated Pooh, with the red t-shirt and minus hyphen.
Winnie could be so enduring because he is something that people can empathize with, not that over smart punch your face kinds. He is a little plumb, fumbles a bit, a loyal friend, hands on practical sense, the quotes from Winnie the pooh are from the heart.
