Letting the curves control us.
Letting the Curves Take You
Sometimes I think life has its own logic and way of going, immaterial of how tightly we try to grip the bar. Maybe by letting go and surrendering to the ups and downs may provide more thrill and power. When we being to fight this there is an anxiety, there is tension and the whole being is distressed. When we accept without trying to control then freedom and joy could inevitably arise.
Despite of knowing we cannot control things we do find it difficult to let go. This lack of control causes discomfort. This awareness comes only when, we have a stark encounter with this fact and all our attempts to be in control are unnecessary burdens to carry. By gently letting go with a little practice everyday, we may find ourselves metaphorically gripping the safety bar.
The choice is ours to make, we could give ourselves to fear and anxiety of surrender to the mystery with courage. Its like the people on the roller coaster ride, some tightfisted, with clenched teeth and closed eyes, some with waving hands and cheering out.
We can choose our response to our life.
We can give in to our fear and anxiety, or we can surrender to this great mystery with courage. When we see people on a roller coaster, we see that there are those with their faces tight with fear and then there are those that smile broadly, with their hands in the air, carried through the ride on a wave of freedom and joy. This powerful image reminds us that often the only control we have is choosing how we are going to respond to the ride.
