But everybody needs some time to rejuvenate, refresh, recharge and begin again. For some it is seeing babies faces. For me it is having a great hair wash. I have a friend who, if has a bad hair day affects her whole mood because it is part of her sexuality, her confidence. I don’t have that problem anymore. I don’t have hair period. i could say I am not bald, but I have grown taller than my hair, but the truth is my head has gone wider. 🙂
Hot air+ rain+ curly hair with tendency to sweat(translates to my hair) = bad hair (daily) believe me you don’t know what a bad hair day is if you don’t have curly hair.
My curls are confused with chemo and coloring. The helmet and dust have changed the soft silky texture. Recharging my hair makes me feel complete again. No longer do i feel amputated and ugly. look at the city women. There’s reason why forty, fifty or even sixty year old women don’t look the way do, and it’s not because of feminism, or better living through exercise it is because of hair dye. Take the case of America in 1950’s 7% of American women dyed their hair. Today you’ll find no grey haired women. As for India, forget grey-haired women, we find women who are blonds and brunettes.
Yes the doctor in me knows hair is dead tissue and acknowledging hair could be acknowledging the dead. But for me– Hair, the symbol of life, I mean LIFE, it bolts from our head(s) like the earth, it can harvested, but will rise again. We can change its color and texture when the mood strikes us, but in time it returns to its original form, just as nature does. look at our precisely laid out cities eventually they turn into weed way.
This is what life is about, recharging when stagnation sets about. If you do not recharge, you do not re-invent, if you do not reinvent you stagnant, and that in the medical world is the clinical definition of death. Change is life, and recharge is life-giving. Its simple yet it is scary. Recharging my hair is just an acknowledgement of recharging my life.
