Lightening the Soul

inner voiceWhen I attended the landmark curriculum for living program one thing that I did realize that I would have issues about situations and people.
Few days back I was visiting aunt Sundari, an aunt I am quite fond of, she looked out of sorts, the essence being it was her granddaughter’s birthday, and every time her grand kids came down in July she would plan for a birthday party and her/ daughter-in-law would have a seemingly legitimate excuse not to let her have the party.
This time round, the daughter-in-law had planned to visit her/ only for about 3 days in her holiday of 3 weeks. Citing that aunt Sundari was a busy person. Now my aunt’s contention was when the daughter-in-law did not present her a definite program she did not want to hang loose for 3 weeks. The daughter-in-law claims that oh! She is not really interested in the kids.
Something just triggered my irritation, and I asked aunt Sundari “Have you told your son/daughter-in-law that as a grandmother you would like to spend time with children of your only son?” She replied, “No, I do not want to cause tension between husband and wife.”
Okay, this time try telling your son, that you would like to have your grandchildren. I do not know what happened after that, but I realized she was carrying his burden of being neglected by son, she also perceived that her daughter-in-law kind of looked down her, (though I do not know why, considering aunt Sundari had achieved much more in life than her daughter-in-law can even dream off.) what it did achieve however that her son realized that she did care for her grandchildren, hopefully next time he and his wife will respect her, her time. She could also do with proactively planning with her son, as to the quality of the time she would like to spend with his family.
This of course may seem like mundane gossip on an earthly plane, but the epiphany that emerged in my space was its only when we actively seek to work through our issues can we lighten the load and our souls can evolve.
Maybe when we are born our souls may feel heavy, after all they carry weight of all the lives that we have lived, loved and learned in our past incarnations. If only we could actively seek to work through these issues we could lighten the load and maybe our souls would evolve. Divesting ourselves of what no longer severs us, like unwarranted fear, or self-limiting behaviours, are just some of the many challenges that we may face in this lifetime. While some issues are easier to deal with other issues may offer greater challenges as we are meant to work through them throughout this lifetime.
We demand it from ourselves to recover quickly from difficult or painful circumstances. When we do not nor cannot we feel so emotionally inept or hopeless, this to me occurs, as the evolution of the soul, an ongoing process, that could take many lifetimes.
My father always, told me do your best and be prepared for the worst. But I found surrender to a superior intellect, go with flow and do your best, accept the outcome with the understanding that it cannot be changed works much better. Sometimes I wonder if these are healings of another life or preparing me for the one to come. But acceptance of each situation just the way it is has made me more peaceful. The peace in turn strengthens.
Solutions may not always be possible, but facing them and doing what has to be done, participating in life, by being present in each moment I guess the soul would do the learning, and the healing.
Maybe that is Soul Evolution…lightening the soul.
