“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”
Ever wondered what is home?
Someone said home is a place but a person
To me it is a safe place, a place where one is free from attack, a place where one experiences secure relationships and affirmations. It’s a place where people share and understand each other. Its relationships are nurturing. People in it do not need to be perfect, instead, they need to be honest, loving, supportive, recognizing a common humanity that makes all vulnerable.
It is up to us to infuse the house with supportive energy and take time to make it stress free.
Sometimes our lives are so busy that we treat our homes as if they were impersonal places that we just pass through. But turning the house into sanctuary or home, takes nurturing and tending like garden does. We need to care so that it offers us the beauty of its bloom. When we take the time to treat our homes like beloved treasures, we can shift their energy from being merely places to being wellsprings for the replenishment of our energy.
When the house is tidy, and clutter free I have noticed that I am less agitated. Regular dusting and actually energizes me, of course it meant getting over some superstitions like not dusting the house in the evening, etc. this updating or re-organizing makes a lot of difference in my life sometimes I discover things that I did not know was hidden within.
Small repairs, eating a formal dinner in good crockery as family, discussing the day really makes a difference. This unfortunately has taken a toss in our house, considering somehow the world and his wife seem to the exact time we sit down for dinner and that’s the time they call my husband the next 45mnts get blown out on his telephone calls.!!
When I visit people, somehow their homes seem to reflect their personality. Maybe that is why clutter disturbs me i am a subclinical OCD control freak, so things out of control is out synchrony. Re-arranging things, sometimes re-organizing the artefacts kind of infusing new energies. This does not require investments it is just moving things. This is a no cost way of removing clutter and allowing our energy move freely. The stuff we have outgrown can be donated or recycled.
How is not a just a set house, or single town on a map. It happens wherever people who love me are whenever we are together. Not a place but a moment and then another, built on each other like bricks to create a solid shelter that we take with us for the rest of life wherever we may go. I chose to prioritize to my home, making it the heart of my family, where we can focus on what matters to us, to share and replenish our energy so that we have more to share with each other and the world.
