The dream was floating off satisfactorily on an inner sea…” the smell of coffee wafting up, and I was transported to Bailoor my childhood holiday home, the destination of all forbidden things, like the morning coffee, the swim in the river, the hot rice porridge, the tangy mango pickle, evening of cards and gossip. Most importantly no homework.
I just realized waking up to a smell is a lot more satisfying than waking up to a noise, instead barging in uninvited and yanking you out into reality, smells enter your dreams with a silent knock and a polite “excuse me?”
Morning, still better the dawn, when the soft orange rays of Ushas awakens the mind stirs, and the sense begin to receive, it is as if the fire of cognition and awareness is being lit. Ushas provide the starter energy we need.
Being a dentist for 28years and practising sleep medicine for 15years, and now with hypnotherapy I know that the morning is precious and how we are awakened is even more important.
The night is all about repair, rejuvenation, and rest. The first third of the night is all about processing, the information we received during the day, the physical assault we dealt with, the aches the pains they show up.
Middle third the body repairs and rejuvenates while the mind, also rejuvenates the soul displaying the possible futures of the thoughts that the mind conjures. And finally we the last third where the elves within come to clean up the unnecessary by-products. This being done Ratri Devi the omnipotent healer of the night gently hands us to Ushas the Lady of the Dawn.
She the first illuminator who greets us as we wake up to our faculties of perception. Coming of the day is a time to rejoice, being showered by this light and taking it in means we are strengthening ourselves to handle the challenges of life in a invigorated manner.
Beginning the day with affirmations is like creating a pact between the universe and me. close your eyes and turn your face into the wind, feel it sweep along your skin in an invisible ocean of exultation. Suddenly you know that you are alive.
Have you ever seen the dawn? Not a dawn groggy with lack of sleep or hectic mindless obligations, and you about to rush off on an early adventure or business, but full of deep silence and absolute clarity of perception? A dawning which you truly observe, degree by degree, it is the most amazing moment of birth and more than anything it can spur you to action. Have a burning day.
Each new day is a blank page in the dairy of our life. the secret of success is in turning that diary into the best possible story we can. Each day greets us with no rules, unconditional opportunity. Lets not dilute the power of this new day with the hardship of yesterday, lets greet this day the way it has greeted us, with open arms and endless possibility.
Funnily we start over again, everyday, in spite of all we know, against all we know.
