World Chocolate Day- New Adventures of Theobroma.

The Theobroma connect Harry Potter, Honey and Tea.

Its September 13th once again. The world chocolate day. for couple of years now I have been writing about it in 2020  as celebrating the Theobroma.

In 2016 it was an ode to the Xocoatl.

This time round, I thought let me do away with history, folk lore and see what comes across with my favourite addiction that is reading.

The harry potter series absolutely honours the chocolate using it as a remedy for dementor encounters. Of course, chocolates are comforting food. The best ever elixir that I can have is hot chocolate brewed by my daughter. Over the year however I discovered two chocolate collaboration.

The chocolate tea: that is tea infused with chocolate. It is also known as cacao tea the beverage is made of cacao shells. It offers a unique flavour. it does away with sugar and fat found in the traditional hot chocolate.

Though initially my mind revolted at the though to chocolate and tea it was intriguing. Further research revealed that cacao-tea had some benefits.

  • It could be had hot like a traditional hot chocolate, steeping is like conventional tea, that is cacao shells in hot water. The drink apparently is chocolate flavoured… I’m not sure where the tea steps in.
  • The cocoa based hot chocolate does have caffeine in it, but the chocolate tea is caffeine free. This rescues people wo would like a warm chocolatey drink but don’t want the irritant caffeine.
  • Chocolate tea works like dark chocolate and has antioxidants and flavonoids it.  it could reduce cardiac inflammation and improve the heart.
  • It could be mixed with other ingredients like spices and milk or even honey.
  • Iced cacao tea is good option during the heat. The theanine stays intact calming the mind, while cacao improves the skin health and reduces sun burns.

I know of tea steeper who uses  cold cacao-tea flavour cocktails. While I have experimented with the cacao-tea Kampuchea.

The cacao shells from chocolate tea when added to baths creates a relaxing and indulgent bathing experience.

Of course, the flavour and intensity of the tea steeped depends on the type of cacao shells and way it is brewed. This combination of tea and chocolate was again something that my mind did not accept. While it is fun to experiment, it might be safe to just pick it from amazon or the orange-choco-tea from Tea box.

Another discovery of chocolate migration is Cacao-Honey. Like the tea I was sceptic initially. But when I tried it was quite an interesting product. Creamy and spreadable, it was like cacao butter infused with honey.  I did add a dash of dry ginger powder it was like I had the Theobroma of the Mayan’s on my platter.

Let’s pray

Ixcanil Goddess of Seed, hear me.

Ixtoq Goddess or Rain, help me.

Ixcacao, Goddess of chocolate, see my tears and come to my aid.
