Insomnia was a major issue in my life and I think the major sleep debt that I collected osculated my journey on self healing.
It all began with the simple routine of washing the dishes that is shining my sink before I went to bed. Suddenly I realized the sense of dread of having to face a sink load of unwashed dishes; a stale smelling kitchen went away from my space.
To this I added putting out my clothes for the next day.
Then whatever I needed to take to work. This I called my launch pad, that meant I needed to kind of plan my schedule. That again threw out the feeling of being overwhelmed from my space.
A warm water bath was the next thing to become part of my nightly ritual. Bedtime I realized can be a perfect time for a night ritual of sending love to ourselves and the universe. It was a great way of sending gratitude to the universe for the great day.
At the end of the day, the sweet, dark stillness of night beckons us to lay down our bones and rest. We find ourselves a clear transition point behind us lies the previous day and all that has come before ahead the dawn heralds the unfolding of all that is yet to be.
Most of us have rituals for the morning, some self constructed but religion or culture induced. But connecting to the magic of night ritually is another experience. It holds a beautiful chance of self appreciation and blessing. Before we go to bed each night we can send gratitude, compassion and healing to the being we have been up to this moment, and then send lightness and love into the future for the one we aspire to be.
This simple journey honours the journey we have taken thus far while opening us to the wonderful possibilities still ahead. When we consciously engage with our own evolution this way engage with our own evolution this way.
As I wove in simple rituals I realized sleep came easier, deeper and I was more relaxed in morning. I could surrender to these peaceful hours knowing that the road behind me had been seen and acknowledged with respect and kindness while the path ahead held my own benevolence and well wishes.
This bedtime ritual empowered me as the only one who determines the meaning of my own past and hopefulness of my future. By setting this special time aside each night I could begin to orient myself on my path of growing. It allowed me to let the past have its place, to trust that the future is taken care of and to simply rest myself in the graceful arms of the present moment.
