International Beer Day
“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.”
― Abraham Lincoln
“You can’t be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline – it helps if you have some kind of football team, or some nuclear weapons, but in the very least you need a beer.”
― Frank Zappa
The first Friday of August is the international Beer day.
This was founded in 2007, in Santa Cruz California from being a small localized event it has now become world wide celebration spanning 207 cities. 50 countries, 6 continents. Wow.
The agenda being very simple
- To gather with friends and enjoy the taste of beer.
- Celebrate those responsible for brewing and serving beer
- To unite the world under the banner of beer, by celebrating the beers of all nations together on a single day.
I wish I had known about this event when we were at word-up at Gurgoan. After all the even took place in a brewery.
I here by kick myself
- For not clicking pictures of the machinery in the brewery,
- The staff that looked after us.
- Who got me ginger ale since that is the only beer I drink.
Though it is suggested we step out of our domestic/local brewed comfort zone and sample a beer from another culture, I refuse to do so since I know of no other brand of ginger ale other than one brewed by my mother.
Now I am wondering about the food pairing with ginger beer, I hope it is not garlic pakoda’s since Indian cuisine seem to think ginger-garlic are Siamese twins.
I did debate if I should share my ginger beer recipe, but lets come back to beer,
The beauty and grooming fanatics would add the event wash your hair with beer event.
The fitness guys would come up drink beer, yet fight the beer belly. Not bad for an event line up
As for me I like my coffee black, my ale Ginger brewed by mom, wine from Burgundy, the darker the better I like my heroes complicated and brooding,Jeans Dean in oiled leather, leaning on a motorcycle… you know the color… back to the ale it is cold with soda for social, with hot water to nurse a soar throat, with ice for comfort.
