It is really a mistake to think that moving fast is the same as actually going somewhere, we could be moving fast yet not covering physical space. Thats what came to me, when i saw the 4G advt.
I am challenged when it comes to telephone, mobiles have left me petrified. And I deal with anything that terrorizes me in one way, I look it in the eye, acknowledge it and master it. finally I have been able to understand the nebulous- world of mobiles.
To me it sounds like the line between, telephones-television and telegrams are fused here. now understanding the 3G – 4G is bit of a challenge, but I can kind of put into context as an user.
The world of receiving telephone calls was not so challenging, then I mastered the SMS, now with a Smartphone, I realize I am not really that smart, I am yet to learn the nuances of using the camera, the documents and all other goodies that the world of mobile offers.
My friend Anu Krishnan tells me I can stop being a burden of beast, and just put in my mobile, its like carrying my laptop, music player, camera all at a go.
In my space I have been using the internet to do online counselling hypnotherapy receiving and sending of X-rays.
There are students to whom I teach dancing through skype.
Anu assures me that I can shift all this to my phone, I am on that journey.
If 4G means faster web browsing and faster video music photo uploads and downloads well thats a great thing to happen. but the creators of 4G insist that it would change our lives .
According to its creators 4G brings with it, all manner of new sensors to help us monitor our body. everything a physician needs to check physically in a patient will be monitored remotely and transmitted via 4G to the physician. These sensors can fitted into stuff that we already wear!! (bras with sensors!! really) these sensors send constant signals to the physician. (my guess some computer) this could monitor the condition of a person on goingly, hopefully it can also anticpate and react to problem. This would definitely mean help reaches a senior citizen quicker.
Then there is the video chatting facility that would give me the access to my patients even when I am on the move. I don’t know if this really good but yes it is an option.
As of now, we have a cable or DSL and internet connectivity for the house, and 3G both billed, but 4G being almost as fast as home broadband connections we can completely do cut the communication bill down. Moreover the 4G is shareable. Since it is supports multiple internet users.
What I would do with the incredible speed being available.
- Get my mother on to 4G and see how I connect her to me with me for telehealth.
- Connect to my daughter who is away from for telehealth.
- Put in family conference time each evening at pre-determined time.
- Schedule my online counselling.
- Shift my blogging and vblogging to the mobile device.
- Download kindle on my mobile.

just a shakespearean take on speed
Speed. O jest unseen, inscrutable, invisible,
As a nose on a man’s face, or a weathercock on a steeple!
My master sues to her, and she hath taught her suitor,
He being her pupil, to become her tutor.
O excellent device! was there ever heard a better,
That my master, being scribe, to himself should write the letter?
Valentine. How now, sir? what are you reasoning with yourself?
Speed. Nay, I was rhyming: ’tis you that have the reason.”
― William Shakespeare,
