view from the roof top

view from the hospital ward
Roof top to me meant a place on top of the pile, The best view would have been people who were trying to reach there,
Rock-a-bye baby
craddle’s on tree top,
watch it my baby if the craddle drops
its hell of a fall
seemed a familiar lullaby. and guess what I didn’t want to second Ashley Cole’s rue when he said”My worst fears were confirmed as Theiory and I sat in the center of the circle after the final whistle his name was sung from the roof tops, while my contribution was recognized by deafening silence. It was like I was the invisible man.”
It was one accident an year ago, that brought me from the land of probable visual to reality the windom from my hospital bed, it was on par with the tree tops.March through febraury the leaves were green with red pods, the tender twigs that protected the pods were red, early morning birds sat on it green with their red beaks it was difficult to seperate one from the other. April heralded the brown pods, that popped and wafts of cotton fluffs drifted around the place now the brown pods still hosted the birds, but the birds were brown with russet beaks.
If mother nature could talk probably she like Aishwarya Rai would say”I am not the type who’ll yell about my achievements from roof tops.”:)

Did I celebrate earth day?

There would be very little point in my exhausting myself and other conservationist themselves in trying to protect animals and habitats if we weren’t at the same time raising young people to be better stewards.

– Dr. Jane Goodall Primatologist, ethologists and anthropologist Image

April 22nd is the earth day.

The day observes the need to protect the environment… it was instated in 1970 to to promote ideas of ecology, encourage respect for life on earth and highlight growing concern over pollution of the soil and water.

From 1962 – to 1970 almost an eight year gestation period for the movement.

The 1962  bestseller by Rachel Garson called Silent spring triggered the movement, the Vietnam war, the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill, the beetles the hippies all added momentum to this.

But did I do anything yesterday to commemorate this?

Well yes and no,

I sincerely believe like Fredrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) that “the earth has a skin, the skin has diseases and one of them is man.”

I attended no rally or seminar; I did not update my status or put in a blog.

Let’s look at it this way, there is no point in just quoting the Cree Indian and saying ~

When the last tree dies and the

Last river been poisoned and the last fish been

Caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

We need to talk alternates, and children don’t listen they observe, see and follow. I created the compost bin one at our building garden and one for my balcony garden.

We worked an earn while you learn program for young gardeners, it’s just that one bit.

Sir Francis Bacon got it right when he figured “Nature to commanded must be obeyed.”

Vote out

I never vote for anyone. I always vote against.
W. C. Fields

Will I vote this year? When did I last vote? asks Plinky
Last Tuesday at the Toastmaster’s to elect the best speaker, evaluator and so on.
But we are talking of the political electoral then its ages since I did vote.
For us in Goa it is not will you vote this year but did you vote this year we had our elections on March 3rd well No I did not.
Well,We vote a person and not the work he does, the promised to do list often varies from the done list. That confuses me when choose candidates to vote for
The popular reasons for not voting are:
• Young adults between 18 and 25 are not registered. If they are they are studying elsewhere.
• Individuals have migrated from their voting area
• The candidates are not persuasive enough to mobilize
• A feeling that any way my vote does not count so why bother?
• Bad weather
• Lack of transport
In my case this elections it was very simple we did not know where our voting booth was, three areas’s disputed over us! Each Panchayat claiming that we fell in their territory for Panchayat elections but when it came to state elections they did not want to claim us, probably since we did not add to their vote bank.
My observation is bad politicians are sent to the capital by good people who do not vote.

A magazine that I would like to edit.

Broadcasters are storytellers, Newspaper guys are fact finders and organizers of information news magazines are kind of hybrid of both.
With dictum in mind if there was one magazine that I would like to edit if given a chance, is an Indian magazine called ‘Woman’s Era” a magazine that I have been reading since the age of 13 with the sincere hope that they would come up with a new idea or a new story. But looks like it is mission impossible.
How would I edit it?
1. Read and re-read the articles to see if it makes sense and blends with my theme.
2. Ensure the articles have a decent beginning and conclusion and a relevant flow.(the ten steps of the toastmasters competent communicator would be good reference.)
3. A date with Messieurs Wren &Martins, a grammar,vocabulary,and spell check.
4. Word count
5. Fact check
6. Run through with copy editor
7. coordinate with layout and publishing section.
Publish and be done with it.
The only tools that I would require are.
• Style guides
• Dictionary
• Research tools
What would help
• Shredder
• Coffee maker.
But lets be realistic. 98% of the people who a magazine read the cartoons first– the other 2% are lying. So just let be.

Thank God its a friday

Robinson Crusoe was the only one to things done by Friday ~Author Unknown

Only Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday. Author Unknown

Yet there are somethings I look forward to on a Friday.

Its the day I have given myself to visit the Universal mother at the Ambalpady temple. The sense of being taken care off empowered and energized is one aspect of it. May be seeing the congregration their makes people feel grounded.

Like all religious centers the temple at Ambalpady is also a social center. Where human beings true to their nature gather. I do find it a bit of a paradox despite our herd mentality no matter how much we crave community, the rigors of real life does interfere with our efforts to come togather with like minded individuals.

This congress of likeminded people is essential for our well being. Friday evening are dedicated to that too. An evening with likeminded individuals, it helps us to empathize as a community with similar interests, ideals, or aspirations giving our experieces new dimensions.

Our Friday event is idea driven so the community compromises of women of different ethnic background. Unlike Toastmasters of which i am a part too where our diversity is our professional lineage.

I like this quote on Friday– Friday should be a day that means you are nearing the end of a satisfying week and look forward to the weekend as simply a time to enjoy other activities but not as a method of mental escape. Byron Pulsifer

That is another thing Friday heralds, on Sunday I have a different routine.

chinese checkers.

board games require the tactic of soldiers, exactness of a mathematician, imagination of an artist, inspiration of a poet, calm of a philosopher and greatest intelligence

Chinese Checkers

A board game I will never get tired off.

Chinese checkers !!Though for a while I was hooked on to the word-pathways on face book. Chinese checkers still excite me.

All the bored room variety, the board room variety and the game board variety have been around since pre literature days for example Sennett of the Egyptians or the chaturanga of the Hindu’s,

Chinese checkers is a game played with 2 6 players. It is the simplified version of Halma or jump created by the Germans and was initially called Stern-Halma. Unlike the Halma this is played on a six-pointed star. Each player has 10 pieces each and the aim is to traverse the board to the opposite base.

1892 Otto Robert Maier patented the game under the name Stern-Halma (star-jump) through the company Ravensburger.

1909 it was introduced to England by Spears and sons.

1928 J.Pressman and Co released the game in United States calling it Hop Ching Checkers. This was eventually shortened to Chinese checkers.

I enjoy the game, probably because it brings back memories of childhood. Somehow I never ventured into the online version of the game.

Apparently we love our own cell phones but we hate everyone else's.

Joe Bob Briggs

At what age should kids get cellphone?

Preferably never. But my older kid got hers when she went to the 11th standard, I do not know how it translates to grades. The younger one is campaigning for her own one.

it’s not that I have anything against cell phones, but they seem to ring anywhere and everywhere. I wonder how many marriages broke up courtesy the cellphone.

it has become Omnipotent in its presence. Kids will say, "God is chinese and manifest as cellphones!"

No more can one go to a restaurant for a peaceful meal, there is an uncouth woman blaring instructions to her staff/kids/husband. A man closing a deal. Teenagers flirting, twenty something gossiping its such a cacophony.

actually cell phone is not the issue the etiquette, I would say is more important.

here are the rules for my kids to own a cellphone

No cellphone in the class.

No cellphone at home 8pm-8 am

maintain a 10 feet- zone from everyone while talking.

I choose your ring tone.

no multitasking like homework, Facebook, and mobile at the same time.

dinner is no phone time and zone.
